Thanks, not using the framed presentation fixed the last-post problem. This helps a lot!

The SSL errors remain though, at least in certain areas. The forum software wants to switch to SSL (https:// something) now and then, e.g. when entering the User Control Panel among others. And that always fail, regardless of frames or not - if I remove the 's' to access a http:// version of the same page it works (but is then insecure of course).
It looks like there's some problem with https pages. At least there's something listening on port 443, but it doesn't work correctly.

Admins: any progress on email notifications?

No, I was hoping that Garth could ask Mike on how to set that.

Mike didn't know either. I guess some research will be in order.

It is the end of the semester, and now I have the final exams. It should be over in a week, so I will be able to focus more on the forum then.

I find that external links behave strange, at least with my browser (Firefox). It seems like they are "inserted" into the forum (does not change URL), and navigating through them is jumpy or sometimes just cut off after the end of the window.

That is because the forum is currently in a iframe (sub browser thing).
If you don't want such behavior, just make the forum go to full browser.
There is a link on the top of the forum. Look for:
"Click Here if you want to see the forum across the entire browser."

It would probably be better not to frame the forum. For 6502.org, the style of the forum is very like the style of the parent site: perhaps you could do similarly.

The best way would be to better encapsulate the forum frame in the design, so that the forum link is always in address bar. The forum design files are a bit cryptic, and I already tried to modify them a bit, but they are a real pain to edit.

Hmm, I don't think that would be better: frames are a bad idea. They mess up navigation and bookmarking. People don't use them any more.

Can we please have email notifications? It's one of two remaining reasons for me not yet promoting anycpu. (The other being the categorisation)

Thanks
Ed

I can't figure out what is wrong with the email notification system.
I tried every tutorial/instruction to enable email notifications, but they still won't work.

Hi Dajgoro. Sorry you're having trouble figuring out the notifications; it sounds very frustrating. But please persist; IMO it really is desperately important (especially as it's a comparatively new forum). So keep trying, maybe enlist some help if you need to... Sorry I can't offer any myself; my knowledge of forum admin software is zero.

Thanks for all your effort,

Jeff

I was blocked from uploading a plain ascii .asm file here this morning. "No problem", says I, "I'll just rename it as a .txt" ... no dice ... rejected. "What about no extension at all?" ... er ... no.

Any ideas?

Mike

Mike, how big was the file? The limit is set to 256KB right now. That can be increased if it's ok with Dajgoro.

It was 9983 bytes. I have done similar uploads on 6502.org with no issues whatsoever (although I seem to recall an issue with .asm), so I'm puzzled ... I suppose the I could .pdf it with OpenOffice and try it that way, but that seems rather convoluted for a simple plain ascii source listing ...

Hopefully we'll get it figured out; but at less than 10KB, you could put it in as a [code] section and the smallish window would scroll.
